A begginers English summer program for youth in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco
2023-24 Milestones & Goals
After delivering our inaugural summer program July - August 2023 over a 6-week period to 82 youth, 7-17 years old, in the community of Imlil in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, we are preparing to present our second installment Summer 2024.
2023 MILESTONES
Developed the curriculum and presented a six-week beginners English level I pilot program to 82 youth in Imlil in the Atlas Mountains
Leveraged existing collaborations with NGOs such as Henna Cafe Education Center and Education For All to tap community educators and volunteers, building a team of 17 professionals.
The curriculum includes a Teacher's Manual with lesson plans for six 2-hour classes; a correlating Student Manual and worksheets; 6 videos with highlights of each class, available to children and families during and after the course; and an activity tool box to complement instruction.
In addition to the Student Manual and 6 lesson videos, each student received a backpack, an illustrated 1000 Words Book in English, Arabic and French; coloring book and pencils; a personalized badge with lanyard; a certificate of completion; refreshments and snacks.
2024 GOALS
Present a second installment of our a six-week beginners English level I program to 50 youth in Imlil.
Identify community teachers and volunteers to lead the program planning, management, and delivery.
Provide coaching to community volunteers through the planning and delivery of the program, including a Project Management Plan.
Provide curriculum and students materials, including:
- Teacher's Manual with lesson plans for six 2-hour classes.
- Activity tool box to complement instruction.
- Student Manual and worksheets.
- 6 videos with highlights of each class, available to students and families to review instruction during and after the course
- Student back pack
- Illustrated 1000 Words Book in English, Arabic and French
- Coloring book and pencils
- Personalized badge with lanyard for voluteers and students
- Certificate of completion for students and volunteers
- Refreshments and snacks.
